Giving Hope
to Manitobans who are devoted
to having a family.

Giving Hope Fertility Assistance Fund is committed to helping Manitobans who are devoted to having a family.

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping couples and individuals who struggle with the financial burden of assisted fertility treatments.

We are a group of patients, former patients, and medical professionals who understand that attempting pregnancy can be an agonizing and often disappointing journey as a result of medical infertility.

Because nearly one in six Canadian couples cannot get pregnant....and 30% of these do not have the finances to get help.

If it's not you, it's someone you know or someone you love.

Assisted Fertility treatments in Canada are successful - 30-35% pregnancy per treatment - responsible and regulated.

Here in Manitoba alone, more than 400 couples have achieved a family in the last decade....specifically because of assisted fertility treatments.

One full IVF treatment can cost up to $10,000....and some patients require up to three or more treatments to achieve success.  Despite enormous costs and the fact that infertility is a world-recognized medical condition, assisted fertility treatments are not covered by either provincial funding or extended health care benefits.

On November 6, The Heartland Fertility & Gynecology Clinic hosted a wine and cheese event celebrating their 10-year anniversary.  That evening, we also launched the Giving Hope Fertility Assistance Fund.  The Fund’s Board has set an initial goal to raise $30,000 by November 2008 to assist three families with IVF in Manitoba.  As a part of our fundraising efforts, we will be selling all-occasion cards that feature pictures of the children of families created with assistance from the Heartland Clinic.

Having a child is an expectation we all take for granted. But for over 1 in 6 couples in  Canada, attempting pregnancy can be an agonizing and often disappointing journey as a result of medical infertility.

Fertility treatments through assisted reproduction technologies particularly In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) can provide hope and success. But it is very expensive. Currently, there is no Federal or Provincial funding for fertility procedures or drugs and most private health  plans do not provide adequate coverage.

For many Canadians, this places their dream of having children out of reach.

Through the Giving Hope Fertility Assistance Fund, Manitobans who struggle with the financial burden of assisted fertility treatments can receive support for IVF treatment at the Heartland Fertility &  Gynecology Clinic in Winnipeg.

It is our goal to give hope for a child to as many people as possible.

Everyone deserves the chance to try.

Everyone deserves the chance for a child.
